Rearm & Resupply - Alternate Crusade Rules

Let's face it. Rearm & Resupply is a necessary component in the world of Warhammer 40k Crusade rules; we get why it's there but we'll rarely ever need to use it since most of the units we add to our orders of battle are purpose built and if we do need to change the wargear of a particular unit, 9 times out of 10 we'll realise this after a game or two, remove the unit and just replace it with a brand new unit with exactly the same loadout to save the requisition point, especially since wargear costs absolutely nothing and therefore does not affect your supply limit at all. There are some rare occasions where you might want to change loadouts, maybe to take advantage of a randomised battle honour for example, but for the most part it goes untouched. How much of a slap in the face is it then, when your perfect plans go exactly as planned, you win your mission and you're rewarded with 2 x Rearm and Resupply requisitions for free? It's utterly insulting.

So I decided I needed to change things, and so I sought to implement house rules into my current campaign that would make this requisition a bit less useless, and was inspired by the fad Games Workshop seems to be following where they duplicate a unit, but then stick them on a bike and call them a brand new datasheet - you can field 9 captains but 3 of them must be on a bike, 3 of them must have jump packs and the rest must be on foot, that kind of thing. It's a preposterous notion as I classify these models as the same thing but with different wargear... and that's where I got the idea...

With these rules you'll still be able to swap your wargear around exactly as the original requisition intends, however with these house rules it will also allow you to remove a unit and replace them with another unit from the same category with the new unit retaining the same number of battle honours and battle scars as the replaced unit. I have taken extra care not to conflict with existing requisitions (such as the Space Marine's "Even In Death I Still Serve") and have even tried to compliment some (like being able to make a Necron Noble with the "Slow Decay Of The Self" requisition a Lokhust or Skorpekh Destroyer). Feel free to add this into your own crusades!

Designer Note: This house rule is an ongoing work in progress as I have only adapted the rule to included the factions present in my campaign for the time being, but more will be added at a later date. Also I will be updating the list as new codexes are released to bring them inline with current crusade rules.

REARM & RESUPPLY

1-4 RP

The changing nature of the war zone and the demands from high command necessitate the opening of arms caches and wargear vaults to ensure your warriors face the enemy with the

most effective killing tools.

Purchase this Requisition before a battle. Select one of the following two options:

Select one unit from your Order of Battle. You can change any wargear options models in that unit are equipped with as described on that unit’s datasheet. If you replace a weapon that is a Crusade Relic or a weapon upgraded by Weapon Modifications, that Crusade Relic or any Weapon Modifications are lost. Recalculate the unit’s points value as a result of any of these changes and update its Crusade card. You cannot make any changes that would cause you to exceed your Supply Limit. This costs 1 RP.

Or

Select one unit from your Order of Battle. You can remove that unit and replace it with a unit sharing the same category on the Rearm & Supply document (link below). That unit gains the same number of Battle Honours and Battle Scars as the unit it replaced. Some factions have exceptions or different ways on how this requisition works, however it will clearly stated where this is the case. This costs 1 RP plus 1 RP for every second Battle Honour the replaced unit had (rounded up) to a maximum of 4 RP.
